This is very much the opposite of the teachings of Jesus. His teaching advocates taking extreme precautions against even the potential to sin. That's probably why he implied that it was worth sacrificing even a limb like an eye or a hand if it meant keeping you far away from the kingdom where permanent sin dwells.
Even from a secular standpoint, Jesus's teachings make a lot of sense. Just for precautionary reasons if nothing else. Why put yourself unnecessarily in a situation where you have so little room for error? Can someone call themselves anything other than foolish if they accidentally step over a line they spent so much time treading?
