Easy Proof That the Square Root of a Prime is Irrational

Fun fact I discovered the other day.  I'm surprised I wasn't aware of it before.

Take any whole number.  Divide it by another whole number satisfying the condition that you have a fraction that may be improper but otherwise cannot be reduced.  (The two numbers in the fraction are relatively prime.)

Multiply this fraction by itself.  If the bottom number of the fraction is larger, squaring the fraction will make the bottom number grow more than the top number, so you can't get a whole number by squaring this fraction.  A similar argument can be made if the top number is larger.  There's no way to get a whole number squaring the fraction in that case either.

Since you cannot get a whole number by squaring a fraction, you can't have a fraction of this kind by taking the square root of a whole number.  So the only kind of number a square root of a whole number can be is either another whole number, or an irrational.  The square root of a prime cannot be a whole number since it has no whole number factors, so the square root of a prime is irrational.

Enough

I don't necessarily want equal.  I just want enough.  Enough is sometimes less than what others have.  And sometimes it's more.

I want less money than a lot of rich people.  But I want a lot more mathematical skill than even math professors have.  (I don't HAVE that level of skill, but I would kind of like to.)  But for the time being, I'm content.

Reasoning

The only thing more fun than having NO reason for doing something is having a STUPID reason for doing something.

Do Left-Handed People Get Sick Less Often?

I'm left-handed, and historically I haven't been sick very often.  I had a silly thought that it's perhaps because I always shake hands with my right hand when I encounter people, and don't use my right hand for much anything else.  So with potential germs from others primarily on my non-dominant hand, maybe that's a reason I don't get sick as much.

I'm guessing nobody has tested that through a controlled science experiment yet, but I have no idea.

Effective Lies

Lies can be very effective when they make more sense than the truth.

The Watchmaker (well... Bookmaker) Argument

The universe is 10^18 seconds old, and there are 10^82 atoms in the universe. If you multiply these two numbers together, it's still FAR smaller than the denominator of the probability of typing Hamlet randomly, which is over 10^130,000 possibilities. I don't know if the universe can make a watch randomly, but it DARN sure isn't able to make a book like Hamlet randomly, unless it gets many, many orders of magnitude older.

Unicorns

You know, even though unicorns are fake, they aren't all that strange of an animal.  A South American tapir or a deep sea angler fish looks stranger to me than an animal that's simply a horse with a horn on its head.  Or if you go into the distant past and look at some of the strange prehistoric large mammal skeletons like a Paraceratherium, those things seem stranger than a unicorn does.  So there's a lot of stuff in reality that seems far more bizarre than the stuff we see in fantasy.
